
Meet our Musical Director
Adam Taylor
Adam Taylor was appointed Musical Director of Rainford Band in September 2025.
A Foundation Scholar graduate of the Royal College of Music, Adam is a professional musician with almost a decade of conducting experience.
Before joining Rainford, he led Allerton Brass from the Fourth to the Second Section, including two National Finals appearances, before taking Freckleton Band from the First Section back into the Championship Section.
Throughout his conducting career, he has become known for combining musical ambition with a strong commitment to player development, imaginative programming and building bands with a real sense of community.

Alongside conducting, Adam is an award winning composer and arranger whose music has been performed by leading bands across the UK and internationally, including Foden’s, Black Dyke and Brisbane Excelsior. His work has received recognition at Brass in Concert and the Red Admiral Entertainment Contest, and he continues to write new music for the brass band movement.
As a former trombone player, Adam appeared with ensembles including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, English National Opera and Northern Ballet, while also competing at the highest level of brass banding at the British Open, Brass in Concert and the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall.
Since taking up the baton at Rainford, the band has enjoyed an impressive start under Adam’s musical direction, securing two podium finishes in its first contest season together and earning promotion to the Grand Shield.
His approach combines musical excellence with player development, creative programming and a clear artistic vision, with the aim of building a band that is ambitious, entertaining and consistently competitive.
